Michael Lanyon
Michael Lanyon was born and raised in and around Philadelphia, PA. He moved to New Bern, NC at the age of 13. Michael joined the US Army in 1994 to become a 19D Cavalry Scout and was assigned to 1st Squadron 1st Cavalry in Buedingen, Germany. He spent all 4 years at this Unit taking care of the single soldier barracks as the Repairs and Utility Manager and Key Control, the 1SG’s Driver, and also worked in the Headquarter Troop’s Orderly Room processing all the documents it takes to run the Troop and it’s soldiers. He was part of the first deployment to Bosnia-Herzegovina, received multiple awards, and he was honorably discharged in 1999. After his service he stayed in Gelnhausen, Germany managing a German business. Thanks to this experience he was able to travel all over Europe, become part of another culture, and he can now speak German fluently.
Eventually life brought Michael back to New Bern, where he has been raising his daughter since the untimely death of her mother in 2011. He has been battling Multiple Sclerosis since his diagnosis in 2001, and has overcome full body paralysis, blindness, and the lost ability to speak, like a stroke. His motto has always been “Never Give Up! Never Give In!” Even to his atheist neurologist, he is a “miracle to be walking and talking”.
Michael’s interest in real estate was sparked through the friendship he had with his Broker in Charge, Margaret Rose. He learned about home ownership through Military On the Move(MOM) and eventually became a homeowner with a VA Home Loan. In that same year more learning about homeownership came when Hurricane Florence hit. He chose to stay home during the storm and was interviewed over the phone by a news station in Chattanooga, TN. With damage to his home, and many others in his community of Fairfield Harbour, he went out as much as he could to help those in need.
Michael is a family man, blending his home with his wife Stephanie and her 2 sons. He’s a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan, but has learned through the years that his faith in God should only dictate his moods, not the outcome of a game. He enjoys spending time outdoors with the kids and his two dogs. He’s a natural born artist in many ways, but dancing has always been the art form that gave him the most recognition. He will take his determination in life and carry it over to the agreement table, making sure you, as his and Neuse Realty’s client, walk away satisfied, and hopefully with more than you ever dreamed of.
